Prayer & Trust and Planing & Action
When you're feeling like "Is it really worth it." When the discouragement, opposition, and attacks just seem to come one on the heels of another, what can we do? Nehemiah responds to the threats of violent resistance to the rebuilding of the city's walls with "But we prayed and posted a guard day and night to meet the threat," and said "The God of heaven will give us success. We His servants will start rebuilding." Moving forward in the face of discouragement, fears and opposition is not a matter of "Do I pray and trust God or do I do something." It isn't either or; it is "we prayed and posted a guard" (Neh 4:9). As we move forward in life, we will come up against both internal and external resistance and opposition. The important questions are: Where am I most vulnerable? Everybody is vulnerable in some way. So, Knowing you like you know you, where would you attack you in a way that derails your life? And what are you doing to "pray and post a guard?" And when you feel like giving up the fight, one last question Nehemiah challenges us with is "Who are you fighting for?" Neh 4:14 After I looked things over, I stood up and said..., "Don't be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes."
